Why such hype?

One of the famous cricketeers(name with-held) has got an admission for B.Com at Ranchi university. This was one of the columns a few days back.
How will this news benefit we, the general public? And what do we do with this news? If you say 'chaltha hain' why focus on one?

Why aren’t there any updates on the life of rest of the cricketeers and other sportsmen?
Updates of activities right from the time they wake up upto the time they hit bed, like brand of their bed, toothpaste, soaps, clothes, whatever they use, will have to be put across in newspapers. Why only on B.Com enrollment?

Celebrities, yes, understood. But why such hype? Where are we being led?

does being in the corporate/job field harm you if you mention the name? i, as student, would have definitely mentioned Dhoni rather than 'name-withheld guy.' :)

Classical example of yellow journalism. media want fodder for their living coz its 24 hrs channel now... as long as we encourage them by giving high TRP's u got to live with it :) forget ethics focus on opportunities is the mantra of media these days

One thing you have to realize is that this guy is the most busiest and probably one of the richest cricketers in the arena today. He does not need that B.com to survive. But he made that special effort to pursue the career. This news is definitely worth reporting because it would serve as an inspiration to many youngsters who do not take their education seriously. There are only a special few that are created to serve as a role model and people look up to them.

Even if that news created a positive influence on one person among the millions reading it, I would say it's a big win for the journalist who reported it.

well, on a serious note, Sometimes unimportant news is added as fillers. there is nothing that fits into that particular place, so in goes the news...

and as far as the fillers are concerned, that might be true..
